DETAILED ITINEARY:

Day 1: Hanoi arrival. Airport Pick Up.
Upon arrival Hanoi, welcomed by the Tour Guide and Car Driver of Indochina Leisure at the airport then you will be transferred to the hotel in city centre. Check in and stay overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Halong Bay Overnight Cruise. (B, L, D)
8.30 am. Our driver & tour guide will come to pick you up for Halong Bay Trip. Drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay (the World Natural Heritage site) via the Red River Delta. After 3.5 hours driving, arrival at Halong Pier, you check out the junk cruise while lunch is served. You will cruise passing through the magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons teeth. After lunch, you take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay, swimming on a quiet beach or sunbathing on the sundeck. In the late afternoon, you visit an interesting fishing village with an opportunity to interact with fishermen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations. At sunset, you do kayaking or simply take a bamboo row boat to discover a water tunnel with many coral reefs in a scenic lagoon. Back on board, enjoy watching the peaceful sunset and later unwind at a restaurant. You will stay overnight onboard.

Day 3: Halong Bay – Hanoi. (B, L)
This early morning, after waken up by the sounds of waves and birds welcoming the new day, you will have an opportunity to view the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, visit a beautiful limestone grotto. You will have one more time take a walk back to the boat for a final glimpse of Halong Bay while cruising back to the dock. Check out the junk and get on car to return Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 4: Hanoi city tour. (B, L)
Hanoi, a city of lakes, shaded boulevards and public parks, is the capital of Vietnam. It is a very attractive city with French-style architecture. You have a full day of sightseeing ahead, including a visit to One Pillar Pagoda, which was built by Ly Thai Tong and the Temple of Literature, founded by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. Stop in the heart of Hanoi at Hoan Kiem Lake, which contains an islet with a tiny Tortoise Pagoda. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Opera House and St. Joseph Cathedral. Conclude with a visit to Bao Tang Lich, once the museum of l Ecole Francaise d Extreme Orient, which includes artifacts from Vietnam s turbulent history. Day 5: Flight Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City. (B)
Upon arrival Ho Chi Minh City, welcomed by the Tour Guide and Car Driver of Indochina Leisure at the airport then you will be transferred to the hotel in city centre. Check in and stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 6: Cu Chi Tunnel & Saigon City Tour. (B,L)
8.00am Pick-up at your hotel, you enjoy a half day excursion to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. This network of tunnels, which stretched for over 200km, became legendary during the 1960s.
The Cu Chi tunnels played a vital part in the U.S.-Vietnam War in that they allowed the Viet Cong to control a large rural area only 30 to 40 km from former Saigon. At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The network, parts of which were several levels deep, included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centre and kitchens.
Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and feel of what underground life during the war must have been like. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there is even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range.
Lunch is arranged at the local restaurant.
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is the biggest and most crowned city of Vietnam, warm year round and hospitable people. This afternoon we visit the bustling Ben Thanh Market - a fantastic place for bargains of every kind! There are several interesting sights in Saigon . The War Remnants Museum has a wealth of images from the wars, the most moving being a gallery entitled Requiem which is dedicated to Vietnamese and foreign journalists and photographers who perished during the French and American conflicts. The Reunification Palace was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until April 30, 1975 when the North Vietnamese tanks came crashing through the front gates, bringing the U.S.-Vietnam War to a dramatic end. Close to the Palace some of the best examples of French colonial architecture are represented in the forms of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Notre Dame Cathedral was built between 1877 and 1883, and the stones used to create it were exported in its entirety from France. Next to the cathedral stands the Central Post Office, finished in 1891. It is another fine example of French architecture and is Vietnam s largest post office. For all of its French colonial history, Ho Chi Minh City is by far Vietnam s most modern city. It has numerous shopping malls, cinemas, discotheques and a bewildering number of bars.
Return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 7: Mekong Delta – Cai Be floating village. (B,L)
Pick up at your hotel in HCMC at 7.30 AM. Depart for Cai Be, stopping to take photos in Tan An town overlooking the picturesque flat rice fields. On arrival in Cai Be, take a motor boat to visit the Cai Be floating market and watch the locals trading fruit and many other commodities on board their vessels. Then wander into the small villages to visit the orchard and fruit plantation. Keep cruising to Vinh Long through a series of small canals to experience the charms of the Upper Mekong Delta. Visit a small family business to see how coconut candy and crispy rice popcorn are made. Arrive in Binh Hoa Phuoc village, the green pearl of Vinh Long town, where you can immerse yourself in nature. Enjoy a lunch of fresh river food served in the heart of the garden accompanied by traditional southern Vietnamese folk music. Take a delightful walk through the bonsai garden. Meet the driver again in Vinh Long. Return to HCMC. Arrive back your hotel at around 5.00 pm. Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City departure (B)
This is the last day of Vietnam Trip, our guide and driver will come to your hotel in Saigon and transfer you to the airport for your departure flight home. Trip ends at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Thank you for traveling with Indochina Leisure. Good bye and See you again!
